Accredited Education Program Annual Survey Reports
The latest versions of the annual reports on accredited predoctoral, advanced, and allied dental education programs are available to download free of charge. Reports are available in either PDF or Excel (XLSX) format. Please note that the XLSX files are optimized to be used electronically and printed out as a hard copy, but Microsoft Excel 2007 or later is required to access XLSX files.

Survey of Dental Education Series
Annual survey of all dental schools and educational programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Reports in the series include general information, student and graduate data, curriculum, and financial management of dental schools in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Editions available from late 1960's through the present.
- Volume 1: Academic Programs, Enrollment and Graduates
Provides statistical information on academic programs, admission requirements, enrollment and graduate levels, tuition costs, faculty, curriculum, educational expenses and institutional finances. Also features trends in applications, first-year and total predoctoral enrollments, first-year repeaters, attrition rates, numbers of graduates, female student enrollment and first-year tuition and fees.
Most recent edition is for the 2010-11 academic year. The next edition will feature data for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years, and will be published as an Excel file.
- Volume 2: Tuition, Admissions and Attrition
Includes annual resident and non-resident tuition, general fees and other fixed costs associated with instruments, textbooks and health services. Also provides information on current first-year class; admissions policies of dental schools in the US and Canada; the number of applicants; academic qualification of first-year students; criteria employed in the admissions process; advanced placement and number of foreign dental school graduates; distribution of first-year students according to citizenship; first-year tuition and annual educational expenses; and, detailed information on students withdrawing from dental school, transferring to another institution, repeating of academic years, or suspending studies.

- Volume 3: Faculty and Support Staff
Profiles annual faculties and support staff of dental educational institutions accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation. Also details the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) basic and clinical science faculty and support personnel, and faculty characteristics such as tenure status, gender, age, and race/ethnicity.
This volume is no longer published; last edition was for the 2007-08 academic year.
- Volume 4: Curriculum
Summarizes clock hours of instruction in biomedical sciences; dental/clinical sciences; and behavioral, social, information, and research sciences in United States dental schools by curriculum type and major teaching area.
Published in alternate years, the most recent edition is for the 2010-11 academic year.
- Volume 5: Finances
Provides financial information from the previous fiscal year from accredited United States dental schools. Revenue and expenditures are presented by individual category and in total. Includes ratios of revenue and expenditures per student and comparisons between public and private schools.
Most recent edition is for the 2010-11 academic year (Fiscal Year Ending 2010). The next edition will feature data for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 survey years.
Survey of Advanced Dental Education
Provides information on the nine recognized dental specialty and four advanced general dentistry programs annually accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Reports available from early 1970s to the present. Features general demographic data, enrollment and graduate levels, application deadlines, and tuition and stipends.
Most recent edition is for the 2010-11 academic year. The next edition will feature data for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years.
Survey of Allied Dental Education
Annual series. Summarizes data provided by administrators of dental assisting, dental hygiene and dental laboratory technician programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Reports available from late 1960s to the present. Includes description of academic programs, admission requirements, and enrollment and graduate levels.
Most recent edition is for the 2010-11 academic year. The next edition will feature data for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years.

1999 Dental School Anesthesiology Survey
Summarizes data from US dental schools concerning the skill and knowledge levels of graduates of predoctoral dental programs in different pain control modalities. Also covers the methods used to evaluate students' knowledge and skill levels.
