ADPAC

ADPAC: American Dental Political Action Committee

The 535 members of Congress consider hundreds of bills that affect America’s oral health and the dental profession, but only two dentists serve in the U.S. House and Senate. That’s why it is important to elect more political leaders who value the importance of oral health.

Through the financial contributions of member dentists, ADPAC works to elect congressional candidates who understand the importance of dentistry and the link between oral health and overall health. Regardless of party affiliation, ADPAC supports candidates who will be strong advocates for dentists and the patients they serve.

ADPAC also provides educational opportunities for dentists who are interested in running for public office at local, state and national levels.

Your ADPAC Donations Make a Difference

  • ADPAC was the most successful health care political action committee of the 2008 elections; it backed winners in 319 of 351 House races and in 28 of 34 Senate races in 2008 ─ a 90% overall success rate!
  • ADPAC’s Grassroots Action Teams, made up of dentists and spouses across the country, respond to action alerts when legislative challenges arise. An alert to grassroots members in April 2009 concerning the FTC’s Red Flags Rule generated 11,000 responses, helping delay this burdensome regulation.
  • ADPAC sponsored an advertising campaign in December 2009 to remind Congress that major health care reform legislation that ignores oral health is not real reform, and that the most important step toward improving the oral health of the underserved is to properly fund programs like Medicaid.
  • ADPAC sponsored the first State PAC Conference, where representatives of nearly 40 dental PAC organizations met with ADPAC in New Orleans in November 2009 to review priority issues and strategies to advance the oral health agenda. The second ADPAC State PAC Best Practices Conference will be held on November 4–6, 2011 at the Omni La Mansion Del Rio hotel in San Antonio, Texas. This conference hosts constituent dental society PAC chairs or their designated alternates from political action programs throughout the U.S. Learn more
