What topics are on the DVD?
There are 23 segments on the complete series DVD. The four topic-package DVDs have different groupings of those segments. For a list of segments and of the material covered in each one, see the Products and Pricing page.
What does the footage look like?
Toothflix footage is a mix of high-quality 3-D animation and in-office footage of dentists and patients, with additional narration. To see a clip of a representative segment, view the online Demo.
How does Toothflix work?
Toothflix works like a DVD, the kind used to watch movies. It can be played in a standard DVD player hooked up to a TV. Toothflix can also be played in a computer with DVD drive.
What equipment do I need to play a Toothflix DVD?
Either a DVD player and TV, or a computer with monitor (screen) and a DVD drive showing the DVD logo. Most recent computers come with DVD drives, as shown by the DVD logo on the door of the drive. For more technical information, see the Tech Guide page.
Are there any subscription fees or other costs?
No. After your one-time purchase, Toothflix is paid in full, granting you the right to play it in your practice on one workstation. If you need help using Toothflix, take a look at our Tech Guide. If that doesn’t do the trick, call the ADA at 1-800-947-4746.
Can I play the DVD in a repeating loop?
Yes, each Toothflix DVD has a Continuous Loop option which will replay all segments in the order they appear on the DVD, until you press stop. Also, the Complete Series has pre-programmed loops for each of the four topic packages: Periodontal Disease, Hygiene and Prevention; Restorative and Cosmetic Treatment; Reception Area Package; and Dental Care for Kids.
What if I want to use the DVD in three different treatment rooms? Do I need to buy three copies of the DVD?
To use Toothflix on more than one computer, the ADA offers the Complete Series Server Version. This can be used for up to 10 workstations. See Products and Pricing for details. The ADA also offers Toothflix for organizations and large-group practices; call 800-947-4746 for pricing.
Can I put Toothflix segments on my web site or e-mail a Toothflix clip to a patient?
Yes, but the DVD won’t let you do that—it is protected against copying and transfer. The ADA offers a separate product for using Toothflix on the web, PatientSmart. Click here to learn more about PatientSmart.
Is Toothflix available in other languages?
Currently Toothflix is available only in English. If you’d like it to be available in another language as well, contact us to say you’d like us to consider offering this sometime in the future.
I live in a country outside the United States. Will Toothflix work on my DVD player?
Some Toothflix DVDs should work in most places around the world. These include the Complete Series, Reception Room Presentation, and Dental Care for Kids. The other Toothflix DVDs are coded for Region 1, which will only play on DVD players/TVs sold in Canada and the U.S. However, users in other regions may be able to play Toothflix on a computer with DVD drive. When our stock of the Region 1 DVDs runs out, we plan to reprint them as all-region DVDs.
Can I return the DVD if I’m not satisfied?
Yes, the Toothflix series is backed by the ADA’s money-back guarantee, as are all ADA Catalog products.
