Reference

Members may take advantage of the expertise of our library staff to answer any clinical or practice management question.
Brief Reference Assistance Many simple reference questions can be answered in one phone call, at no charge. (Definitions, terminology, fact checking, verification of a journal citation, etc.)
Reference Packages (Members only) Reference librarians can create a package of recent dental journal articles specific to a member’s information needs on any clinical, research, or practice management topic. Usually 6-8 articles, depending on the subject. (Phone requests only.)
Historical and Biographical Reference Our archivist can answer questions on the history of dentistry and of the ADA using our extensive historical resources.

Archives

The Library houses the ADA Archives containing the historical records and publications of the Association.

MEDLINE/Web Help

Library staff can assist members by phone in using various online resources. We can help you to navigate ADA.org, execute an effective search strategy in PubMed/MEDLINE, or identify other useful health information Web sites.

Interlibrary Loans

Journal articles and books may be requested by other health science libraries using DOCLINE or OCLC. Requests from non-health science libraries accepted on case-by-case basis. Please pay for ILL requests through the NN/LM’s EFTS system, or through OCLC’s IFM.

On-Site Use

The Library may be used on-site by anyone with appropriate information needs during normal business hours. We encourage on-site use by ADA and ASDA members.

Tours

Local and visiting ADA and ASDA members, nonmember dentists, dental society staff, and other librarians are invited to visit the library for a brief tour. Tours of other parts of the Headquarters building are also available to members.
