Student Ethics & ASDA MOUTH
ASDA MOUTH Ethics Corner
Since 2006, the Council on Ethics, Bylaws and Judicial Affairs has produced an ethics feature for the quarterly journal of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA), the MOUTH. The series, Ethics Corner, contains questions from students on ethical dilemmas they face in the academic environment that have the potential to affect students as they move on into the practice environment. Practical solutions are provided using the ADA Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct along with the ASDA Code of Ethics.
ASDA White Paper on Ethics
In 2009, ASDA published its White Paper on Ethics and Professionalism in Dental Education to provide an overview and analysis of the problems of unethical behavior in dental schools and to promote various actions for implementation by schools and other communities of interest within dental education.
Through the ADA's Joint Subcommittee on Ethics and Integrity in Dental Education and Practice, three councils, the Council on Ethics, Bylaws and Judicial Affairs, Council on Dental Education and Licensure and Council on Dental Practice, participated as valued resources for ASDA while the White Paper was in development.
The paper was distributed to various dental organizations, including the ADA, state and specialty dental societies, constituent student dental organizations and the deans of all dental schools.
The ASDA White Paper can be read in its entirety on the ASDA website.
