ADA Seal Statement

"The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs’ Acceptance of Tom's of Maine Naturally Waxed Antiplaque Flat Floss (Spearmint) is based on its finding that the product is effective for removing plaque between teeth and helping to prevent and reduce gingivitis, when used as directed."

Basis for Acceptance

A company earns the ADA Seal for its product by providing evidence that meets the ADA criteria for safety and efficacy. The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs carefully evaluates the evidence according to the Guidelines for Participation in the ADA's Seal of Acceptance Program. In addition, there is a specific guideline for this product category called Dental Floss or Other Interdental Cleaners which includes, but is not limited to, the following criteria:

Evidence must be provided that the components of the product are safe for use in the oral cavity
Data should be provided on the tensile strength of the floss and resistance to shredding

Brief Description of Product, Indications and Directions for Use

Grasp about 18” of floss and wrap around the middle fingers. Using thumb and fingers of both hands gently work between each tooth to just below the gum line. Disrupt the plaque biofilm by sliding the taut floss in a “C” shape against the surface of each tooth. Make dental professionals happy and use daily.
