Communication Methods

A major priority of the Committee is communication with stakeholders. The CIE plans to share information and solicit feedback, about the INBDE, at points along the way as the project progresses.  Several mechanisms are being developed that will allow stakeholders to provide comment and feedback.  The Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) recognizes that any major change in an examination program may present challenges, but it also provides the potential for innovation and creativity which may be enhanced by openly sharing information.

The CIE is using multiple methods to communicate with stakeholder groups.  Updates on the INBDE can be found in each edition of the JCNDE e-newsletter which is published twice a year.  The newsletter is sent directly to a number of groups (dental deans, associate/academic deans, advanced education program directors, state boards, clinical testing agencies, associations, etc) and to any individual who request to be on the mailing list.  The e-newsletter is also available on the News page and a link is included in the ASDA e-newsletter, Word of Mouth

Updates from the chair of the CIE are sent out periodically with more detailed information on the current activities relating to the INBDE.  Additionally, INBDE Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) were developed o address more specific questions about the INBDE.  As the Committee receives comments and feedback from stakeholders, the INBDE FAQs will continue to be updated to provide new information and/or to answer the most common questions.

How to Provide Feedback On the INBDE

The CIE values input from all stakeholders and encourages individuals and groups to provide comment and feedback on the INBDE by sending an email to the CIE mailbox at jcndecie@ada.org.  Also, if you have an idea for getting information to stakeholders, send an email to jcndecie@ada.org and share your thoughts with the Committee. While individual responses are not possible, the committee reviews all comments, feedback and questions at each meeting.

The CIE will continually evaluate the need for additional communication methods and implement those that are the most appropriate. As work progresses and documents related to the INBDE are developed, they will be posted on the INBDE page for review and comment by all stakeholders.

Join the INBDE Mailing List

The CIE encourages anyone (faculty, state board members, students, organizations, etc.)  interested in being on the INBDE mailing list to send their contact information to the CIE mailbox at jcndecie@ada.org.  Just use “mailing list” as the subject line.  Your contact information will be added to the INBDE mailing list and the JCNDE newsletter mailing list.  If a large group (i.e., entire faculty or all members of a state board) would like to be added to the mailing list, all email addresses can be sent in one email.

Although the CIE is disseminating information about the INBDE in multiple ways, being on the mailing list is one way to ensure you do not miss receiving news in a timely manner.  If you know of anyone else who might be interested in this project, share the link to the INBDE page and let them know they can join the mailing list.
