Background
The Gold Medal Award, established in 1981 by a resolution of the ADA Board of Trustees, is presented every three years.
Criteria
The Award honors individuals who have, through basic or clinical research, contributed to the advancement of the profession of dentistry or to major improvement in the oral health of the public.
Award and Recognition
The Gold Medal Award recipient receives a $25,000 honorarium, a gold medallion, and serves a three-year term as a member of the ADA’s Council on Scientific Affairs, if eligible.
