Legislation would Protect Health Care Providers from Liability in Event of Emergency
July 08, 2014
The ADA this week endorsed H.R. 1733/S.2196, the Good Samaritan Health Professionals Act. This legislation would limit the liability of health care professionals who volunteer to provide health care services in time of disaster. This is critical legislation for all health care providers, including dentists who, after passage of last year’s Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Re-authorization Act, can now be considered “first responders” in the event of a disaster or other public health emergency.
