Association Endorses Opioid Abuse Prevention Bill
March 02, 2016
Earlier this week the ADA endorsed several provisions in the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (S.524/H.R. 953), legislation that would authorize federal spending for prescription drug monitoring programs and other opioid abuse prevention activities. It would also establish a federal task force to develop best practices for pain management.
The ADA has worked on this issue for several years, collaborating with state and federal agencies on expanding prescription drug overdose prevention strategies and treatment options.
The ADA hopes that dentist voluntary cooperation in stemming opioid abuse will forgo any need for mandated federal regulations on dentists and dental practices.
