President Signs CR to Fund Government beyond End of Fiscal Year
September 22, 2014
The House and Senate passed a continuing resolution (H.J. Res. 124) to fund the federal government through Dec. 11, which the President signed into law on September 19. The bill in effect freezes funding for discretionary programs at the previous fiscal year level. The House has passed seven individual appropriations bills for fiscal year 2015, but none has passed the Senate, which makes a CR necessary. Congress will likely finish its work on final 2015 appropriations bills when it returns for a lame duck session after the November mid-term elections.
