Texas Dentist Wins Republican Primary, Likely Headed to Congress

June 04, 2014

ADA member Dr. Brian Babin won the May 27 Republican primary in the Texas’s 36th Congressional District.  This is the seat vacated by Rep. Steve Stockman (R) for an unsuccessful run against Sen. John Cornyn (R). Dr. Babin received 58 percent of the vote, beating businessman Ben Streusand.  Because this district is heavily Republican, Dr. Babin will most likely join fellow dentists Reps. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) in the 114th Congress in January.
