Accreditation Notices

Public Notification of Accreditation Withdraws

The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) is the only accrediting agency for dental, advanced dental and allied dental education programs recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE). In accordance with the USDE regulations for post-secondary accrediting agencies, CODA makes available the following public information:

There were no program accreditations withdrawn at the August 4-5, 2016 CODA meeting.

Discontinued Programs

In August 2016, the Commission affirmed the following programs' decision to voluntarily discontinue accreditation:

Dental Assisting

  • Fortis College – Mobile AL
  • Brightwood College (Formerly Kaplan College) – Nashville, TN

Dental Hygiene

  • Sanford Brown College – Ft. Lauderdale, FL
  • Baker College of Auburn Hills – Auburn Hills, MI

General Practice Residency

  • St. Mary’s Hospital – Waterbury CT
  • Indiana University – Indianapolis, IN

Prosthodontics

  • New York Presbyterian Queens – Flushing, NY


In February 2016, the Commission affirmed the following programs' decision to voluntarily discontinue accreditation:

Dental Assisting

  • Brightwood College (Formerly Kaplan College) — Indianapolis, IN
  • Cumberland County Technical Education Center — Bridgeton, NJ
  • Lincoln Technical Institute — Fern Park, FL
  • IntelliTec Medical Institute DBA Institute of Business & Medical Careers — Colorado Springs, CO (by mail ballot September 2015)
  • University of Hawaii-Maui College — Kahului, HI
