Revised Accreditation Standards

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Dental Education Programs. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standards 23e, related to pharmacotherapeutic management, with immediate implementation.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education Programs. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standards 2-14, related to competence in providing dental hygiene care for patients with peri-implant disease, and 3-7, related to faculty qualifications, with immediate implementation.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Dental Public Health. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standards 4-2, related to oversight of educational activity sites, with immediate implementation.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Pediatric Dentistry. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standards 4-6, related to sedation, with immediate implementation.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Dental Assisting Education Programs. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to the Intent Statements for Standards 1-7, 2-5, 2-21 and 2-22, and revised Standards 3-4 and 3-6, regarding administrator and faculty qualifications, with implementation January 1, 2018.

Also, on August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Pediatric Dentistry. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to affiliations, added Standards 1-1 and 1-3, related to sites where educational activity occurs and added Standard 2-5, related to faculty calibration, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Endodontics. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1 and added Standard 2-6, related to sites where educational activity occurs, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Periodontics. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1 and added Standard 2-5, related to sites where educational activity occurs, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Orthodontics. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to sites where educational activity occurs, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Clinical Fellowship Training Programs in Craniofacial and Special Care Orthodontics. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to sites where educational activity occurs, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to sites where educational activity occurs, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Accreditation Standards for Clinical Fellowship Training Programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to sites where educational activity occurs, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to affiliations, added Standards 1-3 and 1-4, related to use of sites where educational activity occurs and added Standard 2-3 related to faculty calibration, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Dental Public Health. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to affiliations, added Standards 1-2 and 1-3, related to sites where educational activity occurs, and added Standard 2-3, related to faculty calibration, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to affiliations, added Standards 1-3 and 1-4, related to sites where educational activity occurs, revised Standard 2-1, related to the program director, and added Standard 2-5, related to faculty calibration, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Prosthodontics. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1, related to affiliations, added Standards 1-1 and 1-2, related to sites where educational activity occurs, added Standard 2-5, related to faculty calibration, revised Standard 4-10, 4-11 and 4-13, related to didactic instruction, and added Standards 4-16 and 4-26, related to clinical instruction, with implementation July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Advanced Education Programs in General Dentistry (AEGD) Standards. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1-5, 2-5, 3-4, 3-9, and new Standard 3-10, related to sites where educational activity occurs.  In addition, editorial revisions to Standards 1-8, 1-9, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-10, 2-11, 2-13, 2-15, 3-3, 4-3, 4-4, 4-6, and 5-1 were adopted. All revisions will be implemented July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Advanced Education Programs in General Practice Residency (GPR) Standards.  Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1-5, 2-8, 3-4, 3-9, and new Standard 3-10, related to sites where educational activity occurs.  In addition, editorial revisions to Standards 1-8, 1-9, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 2-14, 2-15, 2-17, 2-19, 3-3, 4-3, 4-4, 4-6, and 5-1 were adopted. All revisions will be implemented July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Advanced General Dentistry Education Programs in Dental Anesthesiology (Dent Anes) Standards. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1-5, 2-11, 3-3, and new Standard 3-8 and 3-9, related to sites where educational activity occurs. In addition, editorial revisions to Standards 1-8, 1-9, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-6, 2-9, 2-12, 2-17, 2-19, 4-3, 4-4, 4-5, and 4-6 were adopted. All revisions will be implemented July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Advanced General Dentistry Education Programs in Oral Medicine (Oral Med) Standards. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1-5, 2-19, 3-3, 3-7 and new Standard 3-10, related to sites where educational activity occurs. In addition, editorial revisions to Standards 1-10, 1-11, 2-2, 2-5, 2-9, 2-12, 5-2, 5-4, 5-5, and 5-6 were adopted. All revisions will be implemented July 1, 2018.

On August 4, 2017, the Commission adopted revisions to Advanced General Dentistry Education Programs in Orofacial Pain (OFP) Standards.  Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 1-5, 2-12, 3-3, 3-6 and new Standard 3-9, related to sites where educational activity occurs.  In addition, editorial revisions to Standards 1-9, 1-10, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-18, 2-20, 4-6, 4-7, 4-9 and 5-1 were adopted.  All revisions will be implemented July 1, 2018.
