Revised Accreditation Standards

At its February 3, 2017 meeting, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education Programs. Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standards 2-8b and 4-4b, with immediate implementation.

At its February 3, 2017 meeting, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Specifically, the commission adopted new Standards 3-6 and 4-19 regarding diagnostic imaging facilities and interpretation of diagnostic imaging, and grammatical and editorial changes, with implementation August 4, 2017.


At its August 5, 2016 meeting, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education Programs.  Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standard 3-6 related to Faculty to Student Ratios.  The implementation date of this revised Standard is July 1, 2017.


At its August 5, 2016 meeting, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Education in General Dentistry and Advanced Education in General Practice Residency Programs.  Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standards 3-1 and 3-2 related to the program director. The implementation date of these revised Standards is July 1, 2017.


At its August 5, 2016 meeting, the Commission adopted revision to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced General Dentistry Education Programs in Dental Anesthesiology.  Specifically, the Commission adopted revisions to Standards 3-1 related to the program director. The implementation date of this revised Standard is July 1, 2017.


At its August 5, 2016 meeting, the Commission adopted revisions to the Accreditation Standards for Advanced General Dentistry Education Programs in Orofacial Pain as a result of the recent Validity and Reliability Study for Accreditation Standards for Advanced General Dentistry Education Programs in Orofacial Pain. The implementation date of these revised Standards is July 1, 2017.
