CHICAGO, Dec. 19, 2011 – The American Dental Association (ADA) recently announced the appointment of Anthony J. Ziebert, D.D.S., M.S., as its senior vice president for Education/Professional Affairs effective Dec. 19. As leader of the division, Dr. Ziebert’s responsibilities will include overseeing criteria for dental school accreditation and dental education and licensure, dental school admission testing and continuing dental education.
"It’s an honor to be a part of the ADA’s mission to ensure that dentists and dental team members receive the best possible education and training," said Dr. Ziebert. "A dental education opens up a world of professional opportunities from private practice to laboratory research to academia. It’s exciting to play a role in educating future doctors of oral health as well as help shape this dynamic and evolving profession."
Dr. Ziebert, 50, most recently served as the ADA’s director of the Commission on Dental Accreditation, an ADA agency and the national accrediting body for dental and allied dental education programs. Prior to joining the ADA, Dr. Ziebert spent eighteen years as a full-time faculty member at the Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, serving as the chair of the Department of General Dental Sciences from 2002 to 2007.
Dr. Ziebert earned his dental degree from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C., and a master’s degree in prosthodontics from Marquette University. Dr. Ziebert still maintains a part-time private practice limited to prosthodontics in downtown Milwaukee.
