New York—The Commonwealth Fund seeks applications for its 2013-14 Australian-American Health Policy Fellowship.
The Fund is a private foundation with a mission to promote a high performing health care system that achieves better access, improved quality and greater efficiency, particularly for society’s most vulnerable, including low-income people, the uninsured, minority Americans, young children and the elderly.
The fellowship offers the opportunity for outstanding, mid-career U.S. professionals (academics, government officials, clinical leaders, decision-makers in managed care and other private health care organizations and journalists) to spend up to 10 months in Australia conducting research and working with local health policy experts on issues relevant to both countries.
Applications for the 2013-14 fellowship are due Aug. 15. The recipient will receive an award of up to $87,000 (AUD) for the 10-month fellowship, and includes round-trip airfare to Australia, a monthly stipend and project-related travel. In addition, a supplemental allowance is provided to fellows accompanied by a partner and/or children (approximately $50,000 AUD) for a partner and two children up to age 18) to cover airfare and living expenses.
