Dentists' Sharecare posts could score iPad
November 19, 2012
The ADA Sharecare contributor who posts the most answers to questions from the public by Dec. 31 can win an iPad.
Sharecare.com is an online resource that invites the public to submit health-related questions and see them answered by health professionals. The ADA is a leading resource of oral health content for the millions of people who visit Sharecare, which was founded by Mehmet Oz, M.D., of “The Dr. Oz Show” and Jeff Arnold, creator of WebMD.
Any active, licensed ADA member can apply to become an ADA Sharecare Contributor by visiting http://www.ada.org/en.
The contest began Oct. 1 and it's sparked an interest in members who want to be involved in the consumer website. Fifty-seven new contributors were added in October, the largest addition since the ADA joined Sharecare last year.
Since the ADA formed a relationship with Sharecare in 2011, the ADA and its member contributors have provided 4,060 answers to questions posed on the website. The goal for 2012 is to answer 2,000 questions.
Being a Sharecare contributor is a great way for members to promote their practice since they can create an individual profile that links to their practice website. Their name and photo correspond with each question they answer.
Oral health is the most searched topic on Sharecare.com. There are currently more than 3,000 unanswered oral health questions on the website that members can tackle.
