Oak Brook, Ill.—Delta Dental Plans Association selected Steve Olson, a senior partner in the health care practice at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, as its new president and CEO.
Mr. Olson, who takes over Feb. 1 and formerly served as DDPA counsel, replaces Kim Volk, who announced she is retiring Jan. 31 after a 30-year career with the association.
“Steve is a top-notch attorney with a wealth of experience and know-how in the field of health care law,” said Vincent A.F. Sergi, Katten's national managing partner. “His creative yet practical business approach combined with his stand-out legal abilities will serve him well in his new position.”
In her 15 years as president and CEO, Volk helped Delta Dental grow to serve more than 60 million Americans in more than 95,700 employee groups nationwide.
Additionally, the company earned $17 billion in revenue and donated more than $88 million toward community benefit efforts in 2011.
“Kim's impact as the head of DDPA is immeasurable,” said Scott Jones, chair of DDPA's board of directors. “Kim has guided our brand through evolving markets, economic swings and regulatory and legal reform. She will be greatly missed.”
