The University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine appoints acting dean

San Juan, Puerto Rico—The University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine has appointed Dr. Noel J. Aymat as acting dean.
Dr. Aymat received his dental degree from the University of Puerto Rico and a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Columbia University Presbyterian Medical Center. He also holds a law degree from the University of Puerto Rico.
He has served as director of the university’s Pediatric Dentistry Advanced Program and has led its accreditation efforts. Over the past eight years, he procured three grants from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration to improve academic programs in maternal and infant oral health care, special needs populations and Head Start advocacy.
Dr. Aymat is a member and past president of the Puerto Rico Society of Pediatric Dentists, Inc., and the Colegio Cirujanos Dentistas de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Dental Association). He also is a member of American Dental Education Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, College of Diplomates of American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy and Puerto Rico Bar Association.
Dr. Aymat has published several articles, as well as a book, “Legal Aspects of Dental Practice in Puerto Rico.”
