This month, the ADA launched its own spin on the “Throwback Thursday” social media trend, highlighting its wealth of public service announcements from the 1960s through the 1980s in a Throwback Tooth Day campaign.
The retro videos are posted on MouthHealthy.org, the ADA's consumer website, as well as YouTube.
The ADA will also promote Throwback Tooth Day or #TBT on Facebook and Twitter.
“These retro video are fun to watch and help teach the public about how important it is to take care of their oral health,” said Dr. Ruchi Sahota, an ADA spokesperson and member of the ADA Council on Communications. “They also showcase the ADA's longtime historical commitment to improving oral health then and now.”
The #TBT campaign, which is part of the ADA's larger public relations initiative with FleishmanHillard, directs consumers back to the ADA's website MouthHealthy.org for the latest oral health care information from the ADA.
Timeless classics: ADA retro Throwback Tooth Day videos are posted on MouthHealthy.org.
As the featured videos roll out, the campaign will not only highlight the ADA's general public service announcements, it will also focus on some targeted themes including Halloween videos featuring Clown Smiles; family nutrition videos during football season; and a video warning of the dangers of smoking.
ADA members can share the videos through their own websites as well as their Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts to help patients enjoy the nostalgic, fun and timely oral health messages.
