Evidence-Based Dentistry Champions 2.0 Conference: Implementing Science in Practice—the 2014 rendition of the annual EBD summit at ADA Headquarters—has been rebooted to appeal to both prior attendees and new attendees looking to build or bolster their basic EBD skill set.
Both the returning Champions and the new can prepare ahead of time for the May 9-10 conference by tapping ADA online resources: ADACEOnline.org and ebd.ada.org.
"It would be a good idea to go over the tutorials for past Champions, or even to get a bit of background if you're new to EBD," said Dr. Elliot Abt, who will focus on building critical appraisal skills of scientific literature for attendees of this year's conference.
Dr. Abt's introductory EBD presentation from last year's EBD Champions Conference is available for one hour of continuing education credit through ADA's CE Online, in addition to a complementary presentation about EBD resources and an introduction to critical appraisal by the ADA Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry's senior director, Julie Frantsve-Hawley, Ph.D.
Registration is open with a fee of $150 for ADA members and $225 for nonmembers. Seating is limited. This year's conference is supported by a contribution from Procter & Gamble Co.
EBD Champions 2.0 will feature favorite EBD presenters Dr. Janet Clarkson, Dental Health Research Unit, University of Dundee, Scotland and Dr. Robert Weyant, professor and chair of the Department of Dental Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
In addition, Dr. Robert Compton, executive director of the DentaQuest Institute, will present on the work of the Dental Quality Alliance.
