ADA365, the online extension of the annual meeting, is not only a useful tool for those who can't attend in person, but also for those whose busy schedules can't accommodate every course or event that might interest them.

Dental professionals can log on to ADA.org/ADA365 to experience some of the highlights and continuing education of America's Dental Meeting. ADA365 offers members and registered attendees of the 2013 annual meeting free access to select content from the 2012 and 2013 meetings 365 days a year.

Dr. Manny Chopra, a prosthodontist in Cincinnati, last attended an ADA annual meeting in 2000, when it was held in Chicago — an easy driving distance for him.

In 2012, he received an email invitation to log on to ADA.org/ADA365 and was able to view CE courses that were recorded at the ADA's 2012 annual meeting in San Francisco. Dr. Chopra was impressed with the quality of the CE as well as the convenience the online ADA365 offered.

"The online CE on ADA365 is very simple and easy to use," Dr. Chopra said. "The ability to watch nationally recognized speakers on my own time was valuable. I viewed courses on topics that included insurance concerns, high-tech related return on investment and other practice management related topics when it was convenient for my schedule."

Dr. Chopra's online experience led him to register to attend the ADA's 2013 meeting in New Orleans.

"One of the biggest advantages to attending in person was the opportunity to do some trade show shopping for equipment because every manufacturer was present, and I purchased a new dental chair and some other office supplies."

Dr. Chopra enjoyed networking with colleagues and meeting up with old classmates and teachers. He also enjoyed the travel and dining opportunities that New Orleans offers.

"My wife Beth and I made our restaurant reservations three months in advance, and we were able to get into all the popular restaurants in New Orleans," he said. "We are now looking forward to attending the ADA 2014 meeting in Texas."

Even though Dr. Deidra Jones, a general dentist in Jackson, Mississippi, was in New Orleans last fall for the ADA meeting, she took advantage of the opportunity to log on to ADA365 during the meeting.

"I learned about ADA365 during volunteer orientation," Dr. Jones said. "I was able to view a course in real time. The greatest advantage of having access to ADA365 was if you were tired from the previous night's activities — which can happen in a venue like New Orleans — you can relax and attend courses from the comfort of your hotel room."

Dr. Jones said she enjoyed attending the meeting in person because she could concentrate on her CE courses, view demonstrations and test out different products in the exhibit hall, network with other dental professionals and reunite with old colleagues.

"Being in New Orleans allowed me to enjoy the social opportunities with fellow attendees and throughout New Orleans," said Dr. Jones. "Overall, it was a great social and intellectual experience, combined with relaxation. I will be attending the ADA 2014 meeting in San Antonio, Texas."
