CDS Midwinter Meeting lauds achievers

The Chicago Dental Society celebrated its 150th Midwinter Meeting last month, and events included a dinner dance in honor of CDS President Susan Becker Doroshow.

Other highlights included the annual presentations of the Vision, Cushing and Christensen awards.

The CDS Foundation honored Dr. Jeffrey Socher, past CDS president, with the 2014 Vision Award Feb. 26 for outstanding volunteer achievement. His leadership as a donor and foundation board member helped to organize the young organization and establish the CDS Foundation Clinic, CDS said.


Honored: CDS speaker Debra Englehardt-Nash Feb. 27 receives the Gordon J. Christensen Recognition Lecturer Award from Dr. Christensen.
Laila Ali received the Chicago Dental Society’s Communications Committee’s Cushing Award in recognition of her work with the American Dental Association and the Partnership for Healthy Mouths Healthy Lives to improve oral health awareness among children.

Gary Price, president and CEO of the Dental Trade Alliance, accepted the award Feb. 26 on behalf of Ms. Ali.

Dr. Gordon Christensen Feb. 27 presented Midwinter speaker Debra Englehardt-Nash, a consultant from Huntersville, North Carolina, with the Gordon J. Christensen Recognition Lecturer Award.

The Christensen Award was established in 1990 to acknowledge Dr. Christensen’s many contributions to the dental profession and to the Midwinter Meeting.
