Alumni: Dr. Mark Reynolds, Ph.D. dean of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, and Dr. Brad Trattner attend an alumni reception for the University of Maryland Friday. The ADA ran a contest among dental schools at ADA 2015 to see which one could get the most alumni attendees to register for the meeting and the University of Maryland won.
For the first time, the ADA ran a contest among dental schools at the annual meeting, with the University of Maryland School of Dentistry winning.
The school with the most alumni attendees at ADA 2015 – America's Dental Meeting would win $2,500. If the dental school had an alumni reception scheduled during the annual meeting, that money would go toward its alumni reception.
The University of Maryland School of Dentistry had 455 alumni registered to attend the annual meeting as of the week ending Oct 23.
The school's alumni reception was held Friday night at the Marriott Marquis.
Keith Groves, interim director, Office of Institutional Advancement and Director of Continuing Education at the School of Dentistry, said that dental students are encouraged during their schooling to become involved in organized dentistry. "I was very happy to hear that we came in first," he said.
