Champions: Dr. Cavan Brunsden received the 2015 Smile Champion volunteer award. Colgate was named the corporate volunteer honoree.
The ADA Foundation in October awarded the 2015 Smile Champion Awards to Dr. Cavan Brunsden and Colgate.

The Foundation will honor the winners at the Give Kids A Smile Volunteer Recognition Reception Nov. 5 during ADA 2015 – America’s Dental Meeting in Washington, D.C.

The awards recognize volunteer and corporate efforts to strengthen and expand the GKAS program.

Dr. Brunsden is a pediatric dentist in Old Bridge, New Jersey, and was named the recipient of the Jeffrey Dalin, D.D.S. Give Kids A Smile Volunteer Award. Involved with GKAS since its 2003 national launch, Dr. Brunsden is the GKAS state manager for New Jersey. He shares the award with the entire New Jersey Dental Association team. In 2014, about 400 dentists and more than 1,000 volunteers provided more than $1 million in treatment services to more than 4,300 children. Over 36,000 children have been treated in New Jersey through its GKAS program to date.

“Give Kids A Smile is an opportunity to establish a trusting relationship with a child that leads to a lifetime of healthy, happy issues,” Dr. Brunsden said. “Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to open the door to those in need so that they can learn the importance of oral health care.”

Colgate was named the recipient of the Steven W. Kess Give Kids A Smile Corporate Volunteer Award for contributing more than $700,000 in cash donations to the GKAS program since 2008, as well as substantial in-kind support in the form of product donations.
