Dentsply and Sirona finalize merger agreement

September 21, 2015

Dentsply International and Sirona Dental Systems announced Sept. 15 that the two manufacturers have reached a definitive merger agreement, creating a company with 15,000 employees globally. It will be the largest dental products and technologies company in the world, the two said in a news release.

“I look forward to leading the talented teams of both Sirona and Dentsply as we drive the global digitization of dentistry, offer superior solutions to customers and patients and create The Dental Solutions Company,” said Jeffrey T. Slovin, president and chief executive officer of Sirona.

Once the merger is closed, Mr. Slovin will become the chief executive officer of the combined company and a member of the board of directors.

“With a strong financial profile, comprehensive product offerings and integrated solutions, Dentsply Sirona will be uniquely positioned to deliver attractive returns to our shareholders and make dentistry better, faster and safer around the world,” said Bret W. Wise, chairman and chief executive officer of Dentsply.

Mr. Wise will serve as executive chairman of the combined company.

Global headquarters for the new company will take over the location of the current Dentsply headquarters in York, Pennsylvania. The international headquarters will be in Salzburg, Austria.
