CMS updates fraud and abuse resources

December 02, 2016 Baltimore — The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has updated the online resource Medicare Fraud & Abuse: Prevention, Detection, and Reporting.

The free, online booklet details Medicare fraud and abuse, and also contains tips on how to report suspected fraud. To learn about real-life cases of Medicare fraud and abuse and the consequences, visit the Stop Medicare Fraud Newsroom.

There is also a video from the Office of Inspector General that breaks down the False Claims Act from 2011.

For more information about fraud and how to report it, visit the OIG website. The OIG hotline accepts tips and complaints from all sources about potential fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in Department of Health and Human Services' programs.
