CE available for webinars on tobacco

May 02, 2016 The ADA is offering two webinar  opportunities for continuing education about tobacco.

The first, Tobacco and Nicotine: What Is Out There and Why You Should Care, will cover the history of tobacco and nicotine products; what electronic cigarettes are; the physical dangers of these products and the future of tobacco products; and nicotine's impact on children.

This webinar is scheduled for 5 p.m. Central time May 19 and is led by Dr. Nevin Zablotsky, who has lectured throughout the U.S. and internationally on tobacco-related issues and is a senior consultant at Nova Southeastern University aiding in the development and integration of tobacco education for dental students.

Participants can earn one hour of continuing education credit.

The second webinar, Tobacco Policy, Pharmacotherapy, and Dentistry, will focus on past, current and possible future tobacco policies; the use of pharmacotherapy as it applies to tobacco cessation; and information about training opportunities for those who wish to learn more about tobacco cessation pharmacotherapy.

Dr. Larry Williams, a former Navy dentist who dedicated many of his years addressing tobacco issues for the armed services via clinical intervention, providing training and policy development, will lead the course, scheduled for 5 p.m. Central time on June 16.

Dr. Williams is the co-chair of the Tobacco Cessation Subcommittee for the Illinois Tobacco Prevention and Control State Plan Work Group and an assistant professor at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine.
