ADA reveals 2016 Golden Apple Award recipients

The ADA announced Aug. 31 the recipients of the 28th annual Golden Apple Awards, which honor leaders, members and staff who have contributed to the success of dental society activities.
The Louisiana Dental Association received the Golden Apple for Legislative Achievement for a state dental society with total membership of more than 1,000 dentists for its "Legislating for LDA Member Benefits" program. For a state dental society with less than 1,000 member dentists, the Golden Apple went to the Vermont State Dental Society for its "VSDS Opposition to the Proposed Provider Tax" effort.
The Golden Apple for Excellence in Membership Recruitment and Retention Activity went to the San Fernando Valley Dental Society for its "An Afternoon Tea Party" event.
For Excellence in Dental Health Promotion to the Public, the award for a dental society with total membership of more than 1,000 dentists went to the Indiana Dental Association for its "DrinksDestroyTeeth app."
In the Excellence in Member-Related Services/Benefits, the Golden Apple for a dental society with total membership with more than 1,000 dentists went to the Santa Clara County Dental Society's "Continuing Education Program."
The Washtenaw District Dental Society received the Golden Apple for Achievement in Dental School/Student Involvement in Organized Dentistry for its "Sponsor a Student" program.
The Excellence in Access to Dental Care Programs award went to the San Francisco Dental Society's "City Smiles Connect: Denture Project."
In Outstanding Achievement in the Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion, the Los Angeles Dental Society received the award for its "Dinner with 10 Docs" program.
In the Open Category, the Greater Houston Dental Society received a Golden Apple for its "Pinots and Pals: Pairing Your Profession" program.
