ADA asks Senate to 'promptly confirm' Price

January 17, 2017

Washington — The Association is asking Congress to confirm the nomination of Tom Price, M.D., for secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Association announced its full support for Dr. Price, a six-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Georgia’s 6th District, in a Jan. 4 letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, chair of the Senate Finance Committee.

“Dr. Price has an in-depth understanding of the need to protect the doctor-patient relationship, which should serve as the key guiding principle behind any changes to the medical and dental health care delivery systems,” wrote ADA President Gary L. Roberts and Executive Director Kathleen T. O’Loughlin. “He knows firsthand how excessive regulatory burdens can, in many cases, overwhelm medical and dental professionals and impede patient care. Dr. Price also appreciates the need to confer with the associations of health care professionals in crafting rules that will benefit both caregivers and their patients.

“The ADA urges the Senate to promptly confirm Dr. Tom Price,” concluded the letter.
