Comments sought on digital oral health assessment report
January 05, 2017
Dental professionals are invited to review and comment on a recently developed technical report that addresses digital risk assessment resources.
Proposed ADA Technical Report No. 1087 for Essential Characteristics of Digital Oral Health Assessment Resources describes use cases and the essential characteristics of using digital assessment tools, including input and output elements, usability, interoperability and security and privacy features.
Interest is growing in the use of clinical risk assessment resources, which estimate an individual patient’s likelihood of developing or experiencing progression of a disease and may be used to suggest actions the patient and health care provider can take to modify the outcome predicated by risk, according to the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics, which approved the technical report for circulation.
Oral conditions for which risk assessment resources are currently available include dental caries, periodontal disease and oral cancer.
