ADA live CE webinar will focus on prophylactic antibiotic use

March 20, 2017 ADA members will have the chance to question experts about the use of prophylactic antibiotics at a webinar on May 1.

The webinar, Prophylactic Antibiotic Use in Dental Patients with Prosthetic Joints: What is the Evidence?, will examine the rationale for the use of prophylactic antibiotics.

In addition to answering questions from participants, webinar hosts will also cover evidence regarding antibiotic prophylaxis in patients with a prosthetic joint and describe reasoning behind the ADA’s practice guideline on this topic.

The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs developed and published in 2015 evidence-based clinical practice guidelines on the use of prophylactic antibiotics prior to dental procedures in patients with prosthetic joints.

Dr. Thomas Sollecito, a coauthor of the guideline and a former member of the Council on Scientific Affairs, will be part of the webinar hosting panel on May 1, along with Dr. Marcelo Araujo, vice president of the ADA Science Institute; and Dr. Andrea Fallon, ADA New Dentist Committee member.

Members can register for the webinar, scheduled for 10 a.m. Central time May 1, at http://ada.webinato.com/register/73671489084166. Participants can earn up to one hour of continuing education credit. There is no cost to participate.

For those who cannot participate May 1, an on demand version of the course is available here.
