Harvard dental student nets first place for poster at National Oral Health Conference

May 12, 2017

First prize: Jie Sun, a fourth-year dental student at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, holds the first place ribbon she received for her poster presentation with Dr. William Calnon, interim executive director and president of the ADA Foundation Board, at the National Oral Health Conference in Albuquerque, N.M., April 24-26. Ms. Sun authored a successful 2016 ADA Foundation grant application on behalf of the Academy of Medical and Public Health Services. At the National Oral Health Conference, she presented outcomes of her work to improve oral health in New York immigrant populations, which was partially funded by the ADA Foundation grant. By supplying oral health education and training in oral cancer screening to primary care providers, the program aims to teach both patients and physicians, according to Ms. Sun's grant application.
