Revised Advance Beneficiary Notice available online

May 12, 2017 Baltimore — A revised Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage, form CMS-R-131, is available online.

This is the form is issued by providers (including independent laboratories, home health agencies and hospices), physicians, practitioners and suppliers to original Medicare (fee for service) beneficiaries in situations where Medicare payment is expected to be denied.

According to CMS, there are no changes to the 2017 form, but providers should take note of the newly incorporated expiration date on the form. The new form becomes effective June 21 and expires in March 2020.
