Letters: Technology here to stay
July 11, 2016
Regarding Dr. Stanley Markman’s My View
on technology (June 6 ADA News), I have a used a digital scanner now for one year. If you enter into this technology with the idea that it’s easier in some way you’re wrong. What the eye sees and the video reads, however, is real and extremely accurate. It’s not necessarily a chairside time saver, but the accuracy when the scan is true means, and has meant, over 90 percent of inserts need no adjustment. The time it takes to receive a case from New York to California and send it back to New York is truly amazing. It’s also cost-effective and the time it takes to get over the learning curve is not bad. I have been in practice for over 40 years, so I am sorry, Dr. Markman, this technology is here to stay and my patients love it.
