Measures: Practice Assessments

The Dental Quality Alliance routinely receives requests for assistance from practices looking to measure quality with a goal to achieve improvement. To assist practices in getting started with measuring towards quality improvement, the DQA Measure Development and Maintenance Committee has drafted specifications for select pediatric measure concepts applicable to practice level measurement. These specifications are meant for use in monthly reporting on quality improvement applications within practices. Reliability assessments of the measure scores have not been conducted, and the measure specifications are not intended for use in accountability applications. For an in-depth discussion on difference between accountability and quality improvement measures, visit the National Quality Measures Clearinghouse. The DQA encourages users of these specifications to send comments to dqa@ada.org.

The DQA is currently working on validating practice level measures for use in accountability applications. To request more information on this effort contact dqa@ada.org
