Volunteers needed for medical/dental missions in Argentina, Kenya
The Argentina team will provide primary medical and dental care and family preventive education to communities in northeastern Argentina at the foot of the Andes Mountains.
After clinic hours, the team will have the opportunity to learn hands-on from gauchos about their ancestry while eating the local asado (barbeque beef) and locro (stew). Famous for its vineyards, the area is surrounded by grape fields along the Rutos de los Vinos (Route of the Wines) and historic castles.
Nearby Mount Aconcagua is the tallest mountain in the Americas. The area offers visitors a taste of the culture of South America, shopping, wine tasting and tango lessons.
IMR makes all arrangements for volunteers, including transportation, visas, translators, lodging for the entire in-country stay, as well as supplies needed for the mission.
Volunteers are asked to make a tax deductible donation of $2,900. This donation will allow IMR to provide airfare, ground transportation, lodging, meals, supplies, entry visas, tipping and other miscellaneous expenses.
In Kenya, the team will provide care in Nairobi and rural outreach to communities throughout the Kenya countryside, including treating children in orphanages near Nairobi.
Outside the clinics, volunteers will enjoy parts of Africa not traditionally seen by tourists, including Nukuru, the largest flamingo habitat in the world. A short safari will be offered to interested team members who want to extend their stay for an additional fee.
Volunteers are asked to make a tax deductible donation of $3,600.
Applications are now being accepted for both missions. Non-medical volunteers are welcome to partner with the medical/dental team in the clinic and with other community projects.
