Resources on fluoride varnish and schoolchildren's oral health are now available from the OHRC
Washington—Five new resources on fluoride varnish and two new resources on schoolchildren's oral health are available from the National Maternal & Child Oral Health Resource Center.
Developed by the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors and the OHRC, the fluoride varnish resources were developed to stimulate consideration and use of professionally applied fluoride varnish by programs serving populations at moderate to high risk for dental caries.
Materials include a 36-page resource guide, four-page fact sheet, an evidence-based approach brief, policy statement and a list of high-quality resources, including journal articles, materials and Web sites on fluoride varnish.
The fact sheet "Pain and Suffering Shouldn’t Be an Option: School-Based and School-Linked Oral Health Services for School-Age Children and Adolescents" highlights information on the importance of good oral health, including school readiness, disparities, oral trauma, nutrition, dental sealants, fluoride varnish and school-based and school-linked services.
An accompanying list of journal articles, materials and Web sites, "Resource Highlights: Focus on School-Based and School-Linked Services," is also available online.
