ADA EBD/Forsyth course sets new dates

Boston—The new dates for the ADA Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry and Forsyth Institute's interactive evidence-based dentistry course are Nov. 1-5 at the Forsyth Institute.

The course is open to all dentists, dental team members, educators, researchers and other professionals involved in dentistry and will link the ADA Center for EBD initiatives with the Forsyth Institute's scientific research and will cover the primary aspects of evidence-based dental practice, including:

  • asking precise, structured clinical questions;
  • rapid critical reading and appraisal;
  • finding the best evidence via laptop computer;
  • implementing best evidence in clinical practice and teaching;
  • clinical statistics made simple: using statistics in practice and teaching;
  • using evidence-based clinical guidelines, recommendations and systematic reviews;
  • understanding clinical trial design (therapy, diagnosis and qualitative assessment);
  • how to navigate the ADA EBD website to find critical summaries of systematic reviews.

The course is limited to 30 participants and the deadline for applications is Sept. 1. All interested candidates are asked to fill out an online questionnaire that may be accessed at http://ebd.ada.org. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling admission process and all accepted applicants will be notified no later than Sept. 1. The cost for the course is $2,500, with ADA members receiving a 20 percent discount, and participants are responsible for their travel and housing expenses.
