Get educated on oral health needs of pregnant women, infants and children
Washington—Dentists, hygienists and other medical providers can learn more about the oral health needs of pregnant women, infants and children enrolled in Head Start through new tip sheets from the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center.
“Dentists and Head Start: What You Should Know and How You Can Help,” is a four-page tip sheet that provides information about the Head Start program, oral health services offered through the program and practical suggestions for how dentists can get involved, from accepting referrals of children enrolled in Head Start and participating in annual Give Kids A Smile programs to advocating with community organizations and legislators to improve access to care.
Two other customized tip sheets available include “Dental Hygienists and Head Start: What You Should Know and How You Can Help” and “Medical Providers and Head Start: What You Should Know About Oral Health and How You Can Help.”
