Speaker of the House candidates face June 21 filing deadline
![]() |
While nominations will still be made on the floor of the House, Resolution 9H-2011 says such nominations can only be made for those candidates who have applied by “submitting a curriculum vitae along with a statement supporting their qualifications to the executive director at least 120 days prior to the convening of the House of Delegates.” That translates to a filing deadline of June 21 this year.
The blank CV and statement of qualifications form is posted on ADA.org at www.ada.org/members/2012speakerinformation.aspx. The CV form asks for basic background information as well as a listing of parliamentary-related experience. Each candidate is asked to provide a statement of qualifications and explain why he or she seeks to be ADA speaker.
The current ADA speaker, Dr. J. Thomas Soliday, has announced that he will not seek re-election. Dr. Soliday was first elected in 2002.
