Oral Health Resource Center timeline traces dental milestones
Washington—Tracing events from the founding of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1840 to the 2011 Institute of Medicine report, Improving Access to Oral Health Care for Vulnerable and Underserved Populations, the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center has developed an online timeline of significant milestones in the U.S. that have had an impact on the oral health of children and families.
Leadership and Legacy: Oral Health Milestones in Maternal and Child Health, located at www.mchoralhealth.org/milestones, was developed as a tool for educating students, orienting professionals new to public health or oral health, and reminding professionals working in the field about important events that have shaped history.
Each page contains a date, a milestone, background information and information about the milestone’s impact. Each page also includes sources of additional information for those interested in reading more about the event. A handy navigation bar on the left side of each page allows the user to jump to different years.
