Sacramento celebrates 27th Smiles for Kids

Image: Happy girl: Liliana Llamas wears a big smile after receiving a complete dental exam, X-rays, cleaning and fluoride treatment at this year’s Smiles For Kids program in Jackson, Calif. The Jackson Creek Dental Group treated 65 children free of charge, providing more than $18,000 worth of services. It’s the 27th year the dental group has held the event, which is a project of the Sacramento District Dental Society and Foundation and run in support of the ADA’s Give Kids A Smile campaign. Participants include member doctors, their staffs, vendors and community volunteers. “Every child deserves a healthy smile, and we dedicate this day to providing dental treatment, education, advocacy and prevention. When left untreated, dental disease is very painful and can affect physical, emotional and social development in children,” said Dr. Dwight Simpson.
