Insurance Web site redesign goes live

Dr. Lina Kulkarni is furthering her studies in orthodontics as a resident at the University of Tennessee. Drs. Amber and Casper Maurer are working together to build a new practice in Grand Junction, Colo., and Dr. Charles Samaras, an established practitioner based in Pinehurst, N.C., is an authority on technology and practice management.

What do these dentists have in common? All four are featured in video clips on the redesigned Web site launched by the ADA Insurance Plans—an exclusive resource for ADA members. The ADA Insurance Plans include group life, disability, office overhead expense and supplemental medical insurance plans available only to ADA members and their families.

At http://insurance.ada.org, Dr. Kulkarni talks directly to dental students about her insurance needs, while the Maurers speak about concerns of new dentists, and Dr. Samaras relates to established practitioners.

"We asked these four ADA members to speak candidly, colleague-to-colleague, about their insurance experiences, because we recognize that no one knows dentists' needs better than other dentists," said Tylor Sidener, director of sales and marketing at Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Co. "Their stories are included among the unique features of the redesigned Web site." (Great-West Life underwrites and administers the ADA Insurance Plans.)

Following months of research that included member surveys and in-person interviews with member dentists, the new Web site went live in mid-July. "Members told us they want information that's quick, easy and accessible, while also being personal and relevant," said Sidener.

At http://insurance.ada.org, members can find answers to their questions about life, disability, office overhead expense and supplemental medical insurance; chat online with experts; and apply and pay for their insurance online. A resource library provides financial information that goes beyond insurance, including estate planning and buy-sell agreements.

"The redesigned site is more streamlined, more engaging and easier to navigate," said Dr. Pete Hoffmann, chair of the ADA Council on Members Insurance and Retirement Programs. "This Web site meets our members' objectives."
