National Children’s Dental Health Month celebrates super smiles

Dentists nationwide can help their young patients "join the super smile team" by participating in the ADA's 2014 National Children's Dental Health Month during February.

The youth English version of the Super Smile Team NCDHM is polybagged in the Nov. 4 print issue of ADA News.

The 2014 NCDHM campaign brings together thousands of dedicated dental professionals, health care providers and others to promote the benefits of good oral health to children and adults, caregivers, teachers, and many others.

This year's NCDHM campaign features the slogan "Join the Super Smile Team!" Its eye-catching poster features the McGrinn Twins, Flossy and Buck, along with their best friends and next-door neighbors Den and Gen Smiley and K-9 the Dog, fighting for good oral health and reminding everyone to brush two minutes two times a day for a super smile. The preteen/teen super heroes are smiling because they fought for great oral health and a super winning smile.

The NCDHM Program Planning Guide offers program coordinators, dental societies, teachers and parents resources to promote the benefits of good oral health to children. The guide includes easy-to-do activities, program planning timetable tips, a sample NCDHM proclamation, and much more.

Going into its 65th year, this month-long national health observance brings together thousands of dedicated dental professionals, health care providers and others to promote the benefits of good oral health to children and adults, caregivers, teachers and many others.

Free Join the Super Smile Team posters are available in English and Spanish thanks to a grant from the ADA Foundation. Information regarding how to order posters can be found on the ADA website.

A wealth of other free campaign materials, including a program planning guide, publicity resources, activity sheets for children and more are also available on the website. Many resources are available in both English and Spanish.
