ADA Foundation honors dental student programs with Tarrson, Zwemer Awards
The ADA Foundation Bud Tarrson Dental School Student Community Leadership Award recognizes excellence in providing services to underserved populations within the U.S.
Six dental schools will receive a 2013 Tarrson Award valued at $5,000: Harvard School of Dental Medicine for its ACTION program; Indiana University School of Dentistry for its Student Outreach Clinic; University of California at Los Angeles for its UCLA ASDA Los Angeles Community Clinic; University of Michigan School of Dentistry for its Wolverine Patriot Project; University of Mississippi Medical Center-School of Dentistry for its Jackson Free Clinic; and University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine for the Huntridge Clinics.
The ADA Foundation increased the number of 2013 awards from one award to six thanks to a gift from ADA Business Resources (ADA Business Enterprises, Inc.).
Now in its second year, the Dr. Thomas J. Zwemer Award recognizes one dental school student program each year that demonstrates excellence in providing services to underserved populations outside of the U.S. The 2013 award, valued at $5,000, will go to University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, Malawi Dental Project.
