Health information technology conference focuses on interoperability Jan. 29

Connecting the dots between health care and information technology is the focus of a Jan. 29 conference at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.

Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise North American Connecthathon Conference 2014 is an initiative by health care professionals and industry to improve the way computer systems in health care share information. IHE NA Connectathon is a standards-based interoperability testing event that aims to accelerate health information technology interoperability in North America and globally.
 
Speakers will include Doug Fridsma, M.D., Ph.D., chief science officer and director, Office of Science and Technology in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
 
Conference educational programming topics and highlights will include:
 
· Interoperability 101, where industry terms and concepts around interoperability will be explained;
 
· patient and provider benefits achieved through health information exchange;
 
· best practices from experts leading U.S. initiatives to achieve a national interoperability strategy;
