Briefly describe your practice.
Indian Health Service hospital that provides emergent, preventative, restorative, removable, and oral surgery care. We see both pediatric and adult patients. All care provided to our patients is at no cost, and our patients must be Native American to receive care.

What is the most interesting thing that has happened or you’ve done as a dental professional?
I had the privilege to act as the "psuedo" pediatric specialist for a very isolated high need community in north central North Dakota.

Why did you choose dentistry as a profession?
To provide a service as a health care provider to communities that are either in high need or in an isolated area. I enjoy having the ability to make a difference in a discipline our country needs most.

What's the most difficult challenge you've faced in your practice?
Learning how to provide the best possible care to a patient base while having limited treatment options possible.

Name one unique thing on a wall in your clinic or displayed in your waiting room.

What is/was the most challenging aspect of dental school?
Learning how to balance the rigorous demands of school with the needs of family, friends, and hobbies.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a dentist?
I would be teaching math and coaching football, baseball, and other sports if needed.

Name/describe your favorite CE course taken in the past two years.
Conflict resolution training called "Surfing the Swamp"

What do you do to relax?
I play with my black lab or catch a recently released movie on DVD (closest big screens are 80 miles away!)

What is the most daring thing you’ve done in your lifetime?
First time away from home playing college football for the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, RI at the age of 18.

What are you most proud of?
I've recommitted to being a constant learner by attending CE courses and reading.

What is the last book you've read or are currently reading?
Occasionally refer to my pathology book.

How do you deal with stress?
I play video games.

Where is your favorite vacation spot or activity?
I really enjoy attending professional, college, and high school sporting events.

What are your hobbies?
Hunting, watching movies, eating out, and training my dog.

Who is your favorite singer or musical group?
Chevelle

What do you do for exercise?
Play volleyball with a group from the community

My mother for providing all she did in such a tough financial situation.

My high school coach Brian Emerson.

Baritone, guitar, and drums

What concerns you about the future?
Being able to achieve a debt free life, but at the same time focusing on a patient population that needs dentistry the most.

Any words of advice?
Do what makes you happy, not what you think will make everyone else happy.

Continue to support the American Dental Association and they will continue to pursue the best interest of our profession.
