Recognition Terms in Effect NEW!
In response to provider feedback, the term of ADA CERP recognition changed in 2004 from three years to terms of two, three or four years, based on the level of compliance with the Standards. All meet the minimum standards, although it’s a matter of degree. The two years would have more recommendations, particularly in the major areas, i.e., Eligibility, III. Objectives, IV. Evaluation, V. Commercialism/Promotional Conflict of Interest, VI. Educational Methods, VII. Instructors, IX. Administration, XI. Publicity, XIII. Patient Protection. All are approved CERP sponsors and all constituent societies can access the Extended Approval Process (EAP) regardless of whether they are two, three or four years. An explanation of the recognition terms is as follows:
- Providers completing a four-year term of recognition with no substantiated complaints may submit an abbreviated re-application for recognition beginning Spring 2008. The four year recognition would have very few minor recommendations, if any.
- The three year recognition would have fewer recommendations, or none in the major areas, than the two year recognition.
- If a provider fails in any major area, they cannot get more than a two-year term of recognition.
Congratulations to the following providers awarded a four-year term of recognition

Requests for Extension
The Committee discussed procedures related to requests for extension of submission of requested materials for CERP recognition. A provider may make such a request when applications are scheduled for consideration at a specific meeting and the provider is unable to meet the deadline for submission. A $210 fee may be assessed for the request. The Committee will grant requests for extensions for submission of applications, but not progress reports.

Pre-printed Application Tabs NEW!
As a courtesy and aid to providers applying or re-applying for ADA CERP recognition, pre-printed tabs have been created for applicants to use in the preparation of their applications. The pre-printed tabs indicate the different sections of the application. Additionally, each tab lists the information and documentation that is required or may be required to be placed behind each tab. A set of four tabs (one set for each of the three copies of the application required for review, and one set for the copy of the application the provider keeps) will be sent with all future re-application packets. The set of four tabs will be sent on request to new applicants. Please use the tabs. It helps the provider organize the application and helps the CERP committee too as it reviews the applications.

CE Course Listing Online Now Open to All
Publicize your CE Courses and Conferences on ADA.org
One of the benefits of ADA CERP recognition is that approved providers may, via the Internet, publicize their courses and conferences in the ADA Course Listing. This listing of courses offered by ADA CERP recognized providers is available online through ADA.org. And now anyone can access this site; it is no longer restricted to ADA members. We encourage you to publicize all of your CE courses online as we have had feedback from some who were disappointed with the limited number of courses available and/or subject matter available through this Web site. Please list all of your available courses! This is a free promotional opportunity. Please take advantage of it.
If you do not currently list your CE courses or conferences on ADA.org and wish to do so, or if you have forgotten your ID and password, please contact the ADA CERP program assistant at hendricksk@ada.org. When submitting your e-mail request to publicize your courses on ADA.org, please indicate the name of the recognized provider and the name of the individual who will be responsible for entering and editing the information online.

Change of Name and/or Address
If you have a name change for the CERP contact person or any other change such as address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, etc., please be sure and let our office know about these changes or you may change this information yourself if you have a user ID and password. If you need a user ID and password, please follow the directions in the above paragraph. It’s very important to have current information on file in the database so that we can get reapplication material, invoices and any mailings to the correct person.

Next Application and Progress Report Deadline
January 12, 2007 is the deadline for submission of new applications and re-applications, progress reports and other reports related to continued recognition. All recognized providers whose recognition period ends June 2007, must re-apply in order to be eligible for continued recognition. Re-applications, new applications, progress reports and other types of reports that are due in Spring 2007 and received by the January 12, 2007 deadline will be reviewed at the Spring 2007 meeting of the ADA CERP. Providers due to re-apply or submit progress reports and other types of reports for review in Spring 2007 should receive a re-application packet by mail in August 2006.
If your organization is submitting a new application, re-application or report, be sure to use the current revised version of the application and to reference the current revised version of the ADA CERP Recognition Standards and Procedures and current versions of pertinent policy and reporting documents in the application or reporting process. Applications submitted on obsolete forms or submitted incomplete may not be processed for review.
If you have any questions about completing an application or report, or about the application or reporting process, deadlines, and how to obtain the current and electronic versions of all relevant documents, or if we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the ADA CERP program assistant, Ms. Kim Hendricks at 800-621-8099, x2869 or hendricksk@ada.org or the manager of the ADA CERP, Ms. Marsha Stiegel at 800-621-8099, x2704 or stiegelm@ada.org.
