Executive Summary of Combined Results of Post Application Evaluation Forms
The following is a summary of the combined results from the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program: Post-Application Evaluation forms completed by applicants in the Spring 2006 and Fall 2006 application cycles. The survey for the Spring wave was conducted in April 2006, while the Fall cycle was conducted in July 2006. There are currently 345 approved providers. Between the two cycles, 139 continuing education providers were sent the survey; 85 responded, for a combined response rate of 61.2%.
Of the 85 CERP providers that completed the evaluation form:
- 28.0% indicated that it was the initial CERP application for their organization
- 46.4% said it was the first time they had completed the application
Respondents to the survey were asked to indicate their level of agreement with a series of seven statements related to different parts of the CERP application process. The response choices were: "Strongly Agree, Agree, No Opinion, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree." Overall, high levels of agreement were evident for all seven statements, though the strength varied between statements:
- Nearly nine out of every ten respondents agree that "The instructions
I received about the application were clear and complete."
(23.8% Strongly Agree and 65.5% Agree, while 3.6% had No Opinion).
- Almost all respondents show agreement with the statement "Sufficient notice
was given regarding the deadlines for receipt of materials." (63.1% Strongly Agree
and 32.1% Agree, with 2.4% having No Opinion).
- The majority of respondents agree that "The organization
of the application was appropriate and logical." (23.8% Strongly Agree and
60.7% Agree, while 11.9% had No Opinion).
- Almost three-quarters share the opinion that "The questions in the
application were clear so that I knew what was needed in order to respond." (7.1%
Strongly Agree and 65.5% Agree, with 9.5% No Opinion).
- About four in every five respondents agree "The preprinted tabs
helped to organize and simplify the application." (62.7% Strongly
Agree and 18.1% Agree, while 14.5% had No Opinion).
- Over four out of five responding providers agree that "The application
and background information properly detailed which documents to include."
(21.7% Strongly Agree and 63.9% Agree, with 4.8% having No Opinion).
- More than three-quarters of respondents agree with the statement
"I was able to use the online materials easily."
(34.9% Strongly Agree, 42.2% Agree, 18.1% No Opinion).
When providers were asked if they would “be able to complete Future CERP applications electronically by entering information into a stand alone document sent and returned via the Internet,” 75.9% replied “Yes” and another 18.1% said “Maybe.”
When asked to estimate how many hours were spent completing the CERP application, the answers were well dispersed. Nearly equal percentages of respondents reported that it took between 10 to 20 hours (22.6%), 21 to 30 hours (21.4%), 31 to 40 hours (20.2%), and more than 50 hours (19.0%). Another 15.5% said the application took between 41 to 50 hours to complete, while 1.2% reported that it took less than 10 hours.
About half of responding providers noticed redundancy in the CERP application, as 52.4% answered “Yes” to the question "Did the CERP application ask for the same information more than once?"
Over half of respondents (58.3%) indicated that they had to contact CERP staff for help in completing the application.

Pre-printed Application Tabs
As a courtesy and aid to providers applying or re-applying for recognition, pre-printed tabs have been created for applicants to use in the preparation of their applications. The pre-printed tabs indicate the different sections of the application. Additionally, each tab lists the information and documentation that is required or may be required to be placed behind each tab. A set of four tabs (one set for each of the three copies of the application required for review, and one set for the copy of the application the provider keeps) will be sent with all future re-application packets. Four sets of tabs will be sent to new applicants. Please use the tabs. It helps the provider organize the application and helps the CERP committee as it reviews the applications.

CE Course Listing online now open to all
Publicize your CE Courses and Conferences on ADA.org
One of the benefits of recognition is that approved providers may, via the Internet, publicize their courses and conferences in the ADA Course Listing. This listing of courses offered by recognized providers is available online through ADA.org. And now anyone can access this site; it is no longer restricted to ADA members. With this free promotional opportunity, we encourage you to publicize all of your CE courses online. We received feedback from some individuals who were disappointed with the limited number of courses available and/or subject matter available through this web site. So, please list all of your available courses!
If you do not currently list your CE courses or conferences on ADA.org and wish to do so, or if you have forgotten your ID and password, contact the program assistant at hendricksk@ada.org. When submitting your e-mail request to publicize your courses on ADA.org, please indicate the name of the recognized provider and the name of the individual who will be responsible for entering and editing the information online.

Change of Name and/or Address
If you have a name change for the CERP contact person or any other change such as address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, etc., please be sure and let the CERP office know about these changes. You may change this information yourself if you have a user ID and password. If you need a user ID and password, follow the directions in the above paragraph. It’s very important to have current information on file in the CERP database so that we can get reapplication material, invoices and any mailings to the correct person.

Next Application and Progress Report Deadlines
The deadline for submission of new applications and re-applications is July 13, 2007. All recognized providers whose recognition period ends December 2007, must re-apply in order to be eligible for continued recognition. Re-applications, new applications, progress reports and other types of reports that are due in fall 2007 and received by the July 13, 2007 deadline will be reviewed at the fall 2007 meeting of the ADA CERP. Providers due to re-apply or submit progress reports and other types of reports for review in fall 2007 should receive a re-application packet by mail in January 2007.
If your organization is submitting a new application, re-application or report, be sure to use the current revised version of the application and to reference the current revised version of the ADA CERP Recognition Standards and Procedures and current versions of pertinent policy and reporting documents in the application or reporting process. Applications submitted on obsolete forms or incomplete may not be processed for review.
If you have any questions about completing an application or report, or about the application or reporting process, deadlines, and how to obtain the current and electronic versions of all relevant documents, or if we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the ADA CERP program assistant, Ms. Kim Hendricks at 800-621-8099, x2869 or hendricksk@ada.org.
